What Is a Friend, Really?

 By Dorcas Moyo

Avoid friends who won't mention your name in a room full of opportunities. If the person you call your friend isn’t concerned about your future, then they are not truly your friend. Friendship is about building each other, growing together, and celebrating one another’s wins.

True friendship is about strengthening each other. Be around someone who uplifts you, who shares ideas that generate income, and who genuinely cares about your well-being. A true friend should also be able to rebuke you when you're wrong — that’s real love.

There’s a difference between hanging out and truly connecting. Just because we go to the same church doesn’t mean we are friends. Just because we ride the same bus doesn’t make us close. We may know each other, but that doesn’t mean we are friends. I’m speaking to someone here — a friend is someone you can confide in, someone who really knows you. A true friend defends you even when you're not in the room. When they walk in, gossip about you should end.

Sometimes you’re just entertainment to people who don’t take your future seriously — you help them spend money, while they use you to pass time.

You're being called to tag along for shopping trips, spending all day in malls while your “friend” is shopping for clothes — for what? In the name of friendship?

You’re the one pushing trolleys and carrying bags 🤣🤣🤣
But when they sit down to make money moves, you’re not invited because they say you're not useful. Yet when it’s party time, they call you — and hand you a plate of food like they’re doing you a favor 😳.

And you see it as love — “at least I’m eating with them.”

But where are you when the money is being made? 👀👀👀

Open your eyes.
Know the difference between people you just hang out with and people who truly walk with you in life. Be careful not to think every person you spend time with qualifies as a true friend.

Being called to spend money isn’t the same as being loved. Real love is being called to make money.
Wake up, dear one.
