MOTIVATION EXPRESS...

with Tendai Muchena

Once upon a hockey season, back in high school.

We had had a rough season, and what sealed it was an afternoon at one of the good hockey schools, where all our school's teams had been beaten left, right, and center.

We were indifferent about it as we had accepted that it was what it was. We had encountered "uzvambukile lomnyaka", how could we recover from it?

The following afternoon, our coach gifted us cross country, followed by a 400m run around the field and continuous games of hockey until it was time to go home.

This was his way of reminding us that we were capable of anything, and it was beneath us to get beaten so badly and to get us back on track. Needless to say, we didn't lose any other game that season.

Were we stronger than what we thought we were, or did we not want more of these "gifts"?......a story for another day.

Life gives us the most sometimes. We sometimes get so used to the downfalls and the heartbreaks that we no longer see a way out and accept life as we know it.

Beyond the downfalls, God declared that we should have life in abundance.

Beyond the heartbreaks, there is an everlasting love from our Father that can not be matched.

Are we not doing an injustice to ourselves then when we accept that we are less than and not worthy of all the good things He promised us?

"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

He loved you and chose you to be His before you even knew Him. He knew who you would be now, but He loved you still.

Don't let anything distance you from what He promised you and what you ought to receive as a child of God.

Life happens, but through it all, never forget the promises of God upon your life. He loves you either way, and you ought to rise above all you encounter, no matter how bad it is.

MOTIVATION EXPRESS

with Tendai Muchena

One day, I was having a heated conversation with God rather than a series of heated conversations. From the time I woke up, there was something I was saying: "How far?" to God about. I had a whole bag of grccievances, _you know by now I wanted to have achieved this but I haven't, why didn't you make it happen, nhingi owes me money and I want my money, why aren't you making them give me my money, by such a time, I want to have achieved abc, but look at how things are progressing, why?

Truth be told, I was not in a good mood at all, and you know how it is when you are not getting the answers you want. I decided to shut off from everything else and do what I like doing, watch BBC, and yaaaa I got hit by answers.

Not the ones to directly answer my questions, but answers carrying a lot of weight. Floods, sicknesses, death, street and school shootings, war. Needless to say, I said a prayer of forgiveness and thanksgiving.

Many things happening around us can easily divert us from the word of God, understanding His ways and just being grateful for what we have. Yes, sometimes it seems like what we have is the bare minimum, but most times, it's so much more than what others have. It's a blessing. You are not buying the list of groceries you want, but others don't know where their next meal is coming from. You are living in a neighborhood you don't like, but others are homeless. You can't upgrade your phone or car or get your nails, lashes, and hair done on a regular basis, but others are too sick, fighting for their lives, to worry about such. Does it mean God will never answer your prayers. Does it mean He doesn't know what you want?

As for the donkeys you lost three days ago, do not worry about them; they have been found. And to whom is all the desire of Israel turned, if not to you and your whole family line? 1 Samuel 9:20

God knows. It doesn't matter how long it has been. Don't worry about the year not going according to plan so far. He is sorting it out, and you don't have to be anxious about it. To top it off, He has bigger plans for you. "Hallelujah Jesu makanaka munondigonera. pese...pese...muripo".

Just sing a song of praise regardless of what you are going through. Thank Him for what you have.

Chauvinistic Crisis Of Church Leadership

DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE IS A CHAUVINISTIC CRISIS OF LEADERSHIP IN THE CHURCH:? (Men thinking that they can lead the Church better than women.)

The crisis of leadership in the Church began, long time ago. Across denominations, men have been dominating as leaders. Mrs Ellen of the Adventist however led the way in spite of men there being the greatest chauvinists.

Let me zero down this huge debate to Zimbabwe. The advent of missionary activities started, in, 1890s when by 1900 about ten denominations had come to Zimbabwe. All the major denominations had arrived in Rhodesia then.

As time went by these Church denominations were being led by men. The clergy were also men. Very few Evangelists were women. When the locals began to see light the likes of Amai Chaza, left the Methodist Church and formed Guta Ra Jehova. While other break aways were being led by men such as Johane Masowe, and Johane Marange, successfully led their outfits from United Methodist Church UMC. All these Churches they started survives to today. Muchakata Church which came from UMC features men only in their leadership. When there was a crisis in the Muchata Church, a woman led that glorious Church.

The history of these denominations and others who came after 1900 practiced the same. The irony of the matter is that the numbers that dominated in these Churches were women and women tolerated that.

Coming to the present day things are changing. We see it in the Uniting Church of the Presbyterian in Southern Africa, were they elected the first African woman as the venerable leader of the Church and a Zimbabwean for that matter by the name of Rt Rev Lydia C Nyashanu leading the whole Southern Africa denominations until July 2025. The secretary of that denomination is a woman also, the Rev Lungile Mpetsheni.

The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe elected Rev. Margaret James when there was a crisis of leadership in the Church in 2000s. She brought order and sanity to that huge denomination. What a relief that was brought by this great woman of God. She is now a supernumerary living in Bulawayo.

2025 seems to be another year of great Churches, most denominations, more so, in the two Methodists, who will be looking for bishops in their respective Churches.

For the first time in the history of the UMC the Church, recently, nominated a woman, in the name of Rev Vienna Mutezo. She is one of the three nominees who are going to fight it out in Mozambique in March for the, coverted leadership. UMC has about nine Conferences in Mozambique who will eventually select a bishop from the three nominated candidates/delegates. They go with equal weight. If common sense were to prevail she will, lead the Church. Women have brought sanity in crisis situations. The UMC has the Gay crisis in that great Church. Only a woman can solve the situation. We hear some voices saying zimbabweans are not ready to be led by a woman, bishop. I do not want to describe that idea.

Zeroing on the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe MCZ, already people are jostling for the position of the Presiding Bishop. I am not complaining, for, it's not in our practice to campain. But women are there who can lead the Church who can bring sanity to the Church. We have the Vice Principal of the United Theological College who is the Rev. Dr. Noleen Chinyere and many others. Now there is a woman bishop in Bulawayo, the Rev Pauline Chauya. What an interesting development in these great Churches. We don't consider them to our detriment. We are the poorer without them leading us. What is the spirit saying to the Church of God.

The British Methodists have been Led by women presidents of the Methodists in UK. In America there are several women Bishops there and the leader now of the World Methodist Council is a woman bishop. The time is now or never!

Humbly presented by the Rev. Dr Levee Kadenge (Supernumerary)

Calling the Church to Prayer: Combating the Scourge of Road Accidents in Zimbabwe

As Zimbabweans, we are all too familiar with the devastating reality of road accidents on our nation's roads.

The recent tragic incident in Kuwadzana, Harare, where five people lost their lives, serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for prayer and action.

Road accidents have become an all-too-common occurrence in Zimbabwe, claiming countless lives and leaving families shattered. As the body of Christ, it is imperative that we recognize the spiritual dimension of this issue and rally together in prayer to combat this scourge.

The Bible reminds us that "the effective, fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much" (James 5:16). As we intercede for those affected by road accidents, we can trust that our prayers have the power to bring about transformation. We must cry out to God for protection, wisdom, and safety on our roads.

Let us pray for:

- The drivers, passengers, and pedestrians who traverse Zimbabwe's roads daily, asking God to grant them caution, attentiveness, and restraint

- The emergency responders and medical personnel who selflessly serve to save lives

- The government and transportation authorities, that they may implement effective measures to reduce road accidents

- The families of the victims, that they may find comfort and strength in their time of grief

A Special Tribute to Nomsa Nyembesi Meja

By Honest Makanyire

Go well, faithful servant of Christ Jesus, a dedicated member of The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe.

I began my fellowship with Nomsa Nyembesi Meja in 2009 at Rujeko MCZ,

Masvingo. Nomsa's unwavering commitment to the work of God was truly inspiring.

As a preacher, she tirelessly spread the message of the cross, reaching out to Munyambe, Domboshava, and Macheka societies within the Masvingo North Circuit of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe. I had the privilege of working alongside Nomsa in the evangelism department, where she even led the team for a time.

Nomsa was a beacon of joy and dedication, embodying the spirit of the Methodist Church in Zimbabwe’s Masvingo North Circuit and beyond. She held various positions at society, section, and circuit levels, demonstrating her tireless commitment to service.

At the time of her passing, she served as the preachers’ secretary for the Methodist Church in the Masvingo District, the Masvingo North Circuit preachers’ secretary, the urban section MCZ evangelism treasurer, and a preacher. Additionally, she was the secretary at MCZ Rujeko society.

Her last sermon was delivered on September 15 during a team evangelism event at Munyambe. On Monday, October 7, she was called home to be with the Lord.

Go well, Nomsa Nyembesi Meja.

The Mystery and Dangers of Masturbation

By Prophet Dr. Lovemore Chevure

After my last post on this subject, I received over 7000 messages from individuals struggling with the demon of masturbation.

Today, I share this message because I believe someone out there is seeking answers, wondering why they can't progress in life.

Before you retire for the night, take a moment to pray and read this message.

God has brought you here for a reason; tonight, you will uncover the obstacles hindering your progress.

Understanding Masturbation:

Masturbation is the act of self-stimulation for sexual pleasure leading to orgasm. It's crucial to grasp the essence of this issue before delving into its consequences.

Consequences of Masturbation:

Masturbation isn't merely a harmless act; it has profound spiritual implications.

Each time you engage in it, you are essentially contributing to the demonic realm.

For instance, men who masturbate unknowingly donate sperm to the demonic kingdom, while women who indulge in it engage in sexual activity with demons, often resulting in spiritual impregnation.

A Testimony of Deliverance:

Allow me to share a testimony of a man who sought my help.

Despite surviving a life-threatening accident, he struggled to receive financial compensation from the government.

Through prayer, I discerned that his repeated acts of masturbation had siphoned away his blessings.

After a deliverance prayer, he had a transformative dream where he reclaimed what was rightfully his. Shortly after, his long-delayed financial aid was released.

Breaking Free from Masturbation:

It's never too late to break free from the chains of masturbation. Through prayer and faith, you can expel this demonic influence from your life.

I urge you to reject the devices of the enemy, including sex toys, which only serve to perpetuate this destructive habit.

Remember, your body is a temple of God, and it deserves to be treated as such.

By renouncing masturbation and seeking spiritual guidance, you pave the way for divine blessings in every aspect of your life.I encourage you to share your testimonies and join our prayerline for support and guidance.

Additionally, at Garry's funeral, there was a vehicle convoy that stretched for approximately 10 kilometers.

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Masvingo City Mayor, Shantel Chiwara, aged 25, spoke at the funeral, "I am heartbroken by the sudden death of our best youthful musician, Garry Mapanzure, Langton Madima, and the child due to a road accident. May God comfort relatives, friends, and Masvingo at large. The high attendance at his funeral reflects that Garry was a people's person and a man of influence. Rest in peace."

The funeral and burial were also broadcasted live on different Facebook platforms and other online channels by media organizations such as Masvingo Mirror, ZBC, among others.

Popular Masvingo-based Hevoi FM DJ Kauleza commented that Masvingo and the world at large have lost a great musician who touched many lives with his top-notch music.

Also, DJ Masomere sent his condolences message to Garry's family.

The award-winning musician Garry died in a horrific accident on October 13, 2023, in Masvingo.

The fatal accident took place around Clipsham Park (Masvingo - Beitbridge road) at around 3 pm on 13 October.

Garry, his relative Margaret Zigomo, and her child were passengers in a Mazda Demio, which was being driven by his friend and Great Zimbabwe University law student, Langton Madima.

Charuma and Zigomo are currently in the hospital. Unfortunately, Madima and Zigomo's child died on the spot, and Garry died at the hospital.

Garry died at Masvingo Geneal Hospital after he failed to secure an aircraft to take him to Harare for specialized treatment by neurologists.

Commenting on the need to improve the health system in Masvingo Province, Zanu PF Masvingo West member of parliament and Masvingo Residents Minister Ezra Chadzamira said, "I want to acknowledge that there is a great need to have medical specialists and the best medical facilities here in Masvingo. I concur with Masvingo Urban member of parliament (CCC Advocate Martin Mureri) for highlighting the need to have well-equipped health facilities and well-trained medical professionals in Masvingo."

The poor state of Masvingo public health facilities and the lack of highly trained specialists such as neurologists was first highlighted at Garry's funeral by CCC Masvingo Urban member of parliament, Advocate Mureri, during his speech at the graveyard.

Masvingo Urban member of parliament, Advocate Mureri, said, "Yes, it's true that death cannot be stopped when the time is up. However, we must do what is humanly possible to provide the best treatment to our citizens by providing the best medication, the best health facilities, and the best medical personnel. We, as Masvingo citizens, must work together to improve our health system."

Rev. Tichafa Hlomai of Harvest House Masvingo and also Masvingo District Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ) said, "We have lost a dedicated musician as a church. He (Garry) was a praise and worshiper par excellence. May God comfort his wife, child, mother, and family at large."

Garry is survived by his wife Vimbai, who works in the United Kingdom, and his one-year-old son, Thomas Junior.

Charismatic Pastor Katenjere preached a powerful sermon at the funeral service.

In addition, Bishop Ranger Moyo, EFZ Masvingo provincial deputy chairperson, said, "Garry's life is a testimony that one can use his music gift and calling to inspire others."

Garry won three music awards, and he released many songs, which include Wapusa, Moyo Muti, Your Man, Slow and Pindirai, Truth and Dare, among others.

Kyle College High School students sang at Garry's funeral. Garry is a former Kyle High School student.

"Garry was passionate about music and he also wanted a crime-free society. Garry had promised me as his former councillor to mobilize resources to build a police station in Morningside, his area of residence, to prevent criminal activities. Unfortunately, he died without fulfilling this promise. We shall work to make his dream materialize," said Zanu PF councillor Manyanga.

Apostle Takavarasha, Apostle Charles Josiya, and Apostle Musindo presided over the burial of Garry.

Garry was buried at the Lawn Cemetery, Masvingo Urban, at around 5 PM.

Some of the high-profile persons who attended Garry's funeral include Dr. Makurira, Mrs. Mazorodze, the Mhunga family, CCC councillor Esther Zishiri, CCC councillor Alec Tabe, CCC councillor Alaika Time, CCC councillor Benic Muchokwa, and the Morningside executive committee.

Seer Langton Mupinda Message On Prophet Angel Birthday

 HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO PROPHET ANGEL:

By Seer Langton Mupinda

On the 6th of September, in the depths of time, God graced us with the emergence of a prophet, fashioning a vessel to guide us through this final era. On this sacred day, He birthed a being of such wonder and marvel that it left the devil astounded, rendered useless in the face of divine power. Such was the creation of Prophet Angel.

He stands as a pillar within the Christian faith, a beacon of devotion and righteousness. He embodies the essence of fire, a passionate force that stirs the hearts of believers. Like a gentle wind, he whispers truths and stirs souls to action. His mere presence incites myriad reactions, as his words penetrate deep into the depths of our consciousness.

Yet, amidst his remarkable gifts, he remains a humble soul, ever humbled by his unwavering love for God. He stands as a shining example of a father, not just to his own kin but to all who seek guidance on their spiritual journey.

These glimpses into his essence offer a mere fraction of the divine wisdom and power bestowed upon him by the Heavenly Father. As we prepare to celebrate his birth during the power week in October, it remains paramount to also honor the day he entered this world, the 6th of September. We extend a warm invitation to all, that you may register and partake in the physical celebrations of this extraordinary man's life.

How Satan Captures Our Minds

*ARE WE MOVING WITH SPIRITUAL FOOLS OR WISE PEOPLE?*

(How Satan Captures Our Minds)

By Sr Ireen Nawila

On 28th August, 2023, the Spirit of God rested upon me and I was given a vision. In the vision, I was told that as we move in this Christian journey to heaven, we should not move anyhow, but we should move with people who are wise Spiritually. There are two things that Satan wants from us; our lives and faith. So we should move wisely because Satan has put many different types of traps and baits in our way. All these, are meant to draw us back. I was shown a group of people in a journey, moving. They were going freely the way a person would move in his or her journey. But surprisingly, I did not know where those people were going or what they wanted in their journey. God wants us to move like wise people not like fools.

I also started moving and then saw that some people were coming back while others were going. We were in something which was in a form of transport. There was a driver who was driving this transport. Then in front, we saw someone coming, and this person was looking very nice. She was dressed in a very short dress, but was looking very beautiful. I was observing everything that was taking place as I was in the front seat with the driver. I saw that this woman was passing that side where the driver was seated. The driver's eyes were caught by this beautiful woman.

Meanwhile, that woman kept walking without minding who was looking at her, her mind was on her journey, but that driver got taken and kept looking at her. Then I saw that that woman stole the mind of that driver including his face. That woman moved and at a certain point, she bent down and spewed a fruit out of her mouth. That fruit was looking like a guava fruit and was very beautiful. The driver started looking at that fruit as he continued driving.

Then my eyes were opened and I saw that that woman had swallowed that very driver and then spewed him out of her mouth as a fruit, got him and put him nicely on the ground beside her. But that same driver had remained driving and was carrying many passengers together with me. This really confused me. Then I saw that driver behind and was walking with that woman going back where we had come from. I really wondered what was happening because the vehicle kept moving, being driven by the same driver. That woman moved and reached that place where we had come from and entered into the house.

After entering the house, she asked that man: "What do you have?" I saw that each person who was asked such a question was supposed to explain by revealing everything they had. She asked how many children they had and the people mentioned all the names of the children they had. Then she looked at all the children that person had and then chose one out of those ones saying: "This is the one I want." That was what she told that man. She then got that child and started off going. This really puzzled me. I looked at the driver who was driving the car in which we were, and saw that the driver was sleeping while driving. He was very weak and was not seeing where the vehicle was going. I kept wondering what was going on.

Then I saw that as some people were passing from the front going back where we had come from, other people from the vehicle were getting attracted. So, those people alighted and went back with them. I saw that woman demanding the things that the passengers really loved, those things that abpetson really trusted in. It was very difficult to deny her what she wanted and she was just getting all those things that people really cherished. I became afraid as I was seeing all these things. What is there along the path we are moving in?

We have been told that there is a beautiful woman who is moving about in the path in which we are. I have seen that that person will get our minds, eyes and our brains as we are moving in this Christian journey. She will not come to try to talk to you, but will just pass near you so that you just get attracted and follow that cunning woman. I thought in my heart to say: "Oh Lord, how are we going to move when the world has become this bad?" How are we going to move friends? That was how it was and I really got very worried. I got so worried that I even failed to think after seeing all those things, but that woman kept doing those things.

After doing all that, that driver came back and then the journey continued like before. This thing passed and then I was shown something else.

Success Tips with Strive Masiyiwa

Reading is the most profitable activity I know

__And the cheapest way to become a great entrepreneur... [start your kids early and often!]

This weekend I decided to revisit the story of probably the most inspiring black entrepreneur of all time:  Reginald F. Lewis. He was the first black entrepreneur to control a global billion-dollar business and to reach Forbes's top 400 richest people on the planet.

Immediately I hear some of you say “Reginald who?”

By re-reading a book on him called “Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?" I was reminded once again how this guy so inspired me as a young entrepreneur that in 1992, whilst visiting America on a study tour, I visited the town of his birth, Baltimore, to learn more about his life!

I had been following stories about him for about five years back then. For me, he was the entrepreneurial equivalent of what Ronaldo is to football or Michael Jordan to basketball.

The deal he did to take over a company called Beatrice Foods in the late 1980s was one of the biggest of its kind in the world, and to imagine it had been done by a black entrepreneur shook the business world. After doing the deal Reggie and his wife moved to Paris and ran a business that spun the globe.

That deal totally inspired me, and I don’t think a black entrepreneur has yet pulled off anything close to it since!

To pull off something similar today would be the equivalent of a black entrepreneur buying a global company in a deal worth $50bn, and then moving to Paris to run it...

It was insanely audacious!

It was not so much that this deal was valued at over a billion dollars to buy, but the sheer complexity of the transaction including how the money was raised.

__This showed me at the time that if you have the right skills and know what you are doing almost anything is possible.

Some of you will remember the post series that called “Buying and Selling Businesses, is also Business”; it was through reading about this particular transaction that I really became alive to studying how this was done. Knowing that a black person like me had pulled it off made me believe I could one day do it.

Interestingly, the first black billionaire on the Forbes list was the South African mining entrepreneur Patrice Motsepe whose own background as a corporate lawyer was remarkably similar to that of Reggie Lewis. Patrice’s acquisition of mining businesses which he consolidated into a mining conglomerate used almost exactly the same approach as Reggie.

And when he did it, some of us nicknamed him “The Reggie Lewis of Africa” in honor of the great American who by then had died of cancer at the relatively young age of 50 years.

In my own small way, I used the same approach when we bought the South African operations of an Indian telecoms group. Our own deal was also “leveraged” and was valued at just under a billion dollars.

I literally “copied and pasted” what Reggie had done including even a Eurobond to take out the bank syndicated loans. We then split the company in two to unlock value. That I was able to do this in a country that was not my home country made me a good student of Reggie Lewis as well.

Let me close by saying this:

When I first put out a blog here all those years ago, I advised you to read financial and business news every day with a pen and paper, as though your very entrepreneurial success depends on it—because it does...

This is how some of us have learnt about how business is really done. And at weekends, whilst others are watching sports, we find a good business book about titans past and present and learn about what and how they did it. Then when a chance comes to try something using what we learnt, we know how it was done before us.

When Reggie died of brain cancer in 1993, the business world saluted an extraordinary entrepreneur. All around the world entrepreneurs were beginning to ask his audacious question which is the title of a book on him:

“Why Should White Guys Have All the Fun?"  By Reginald F. Lewis, Blair S. Walker. Here's a link to the audio book: https://reginaldflewis.com/audiobook/

His widow, who took over the leadership of the company after his death, recently released her own book (memoir) entitled:  “Why Should Guys Have All the Fun?”

And talking of great women entrepreneurs, did you know that a black woman called Madam CJ Walker was the first black self-made millionaire in history? She did it in the nineteen twenties, long before any man, and just decades after the end of slavery.  Her path was simply unbelievable.

Reading is the most profitable activity I know, and the cheapest way to become a great entrepreneur.

Remembering Apostle Ezekiel Handinawangu Guti

Apostle Ezekiel Guti is a renowned pastor, apostle, and archbishop from Zimbabwe. He was the founder of the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), a Pentecostal Christian church that has branches in over 164 nations. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday in May 2023, making him one of the oldest living preachers in the world. Here are five things you may not know about this remarkable man of God.

1. He started preaching at the age of 15

Ezekiel Guti was born on 5 May 1923 in Chipinge, Manicaland Province. He grew up in a poor family and had little formal education. He was converted to Christianity at the age of 15 and felt a strong calling to preach the gospel. He joined the Apostolic Faith Mission, a South African Pentecostal church, and began to evangelize in rural areas. He faced many challenges and persecutions, but he persevered with faith and courage.

2. He founded ZAOGA after a divine revelation

In 1959, Ezekiel Guti received a divine revela

tion from God to start a new church that would focus on the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit. He named it Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa (ZAOGA), which later became known as Forward in Faith Ministries International (FIFMI). He faced opposition and rejection from his former church, but he obeyed God’s voice and established ZAOGA with a few faithful followers. Today, ZAOGA has over 2,000 churches in Zimbabwe and over 6,000 churches worldwide.

3. He married his wife Eunor after a miraculous healing

Ezekiel Guti met his wife Eunor Guti in 1960, when she was suffering from a terminal illness. She had been given up by doctors and was bedridden for six months. Ezekiel Guti prayed for her healing and she was miraculously restored to health. They got married in 1961 and have been together for over six decades. They have five children, eleven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

4. He established several educational and medical institutions

Ezekiel Guti is not only a preacher, but also an educator and a philanthropist. He has established several educational institutions across Zimbabwe, including the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU), which offers degrees in theology, business, education, arts, and sciences. He has also pioneered medical facilities to serve members of his church and others, such as the Bethel Medical Centre, which provides free health care to the poor and needy.

5. He died peacefully at the age of 100

Ezekiel Guti passed away on 5 July 2023, two months after celebrating his centenary. His death was announced by his son Apostle Joseph Guti on Ezekiel TV, the church’s official channel. He said that his father had “been promoted to great glory” and that he had fulfilled his mission on earth. His funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, but he is expected to be buried at his farm in Bindura, where he had built a mausoleum for himself and his wife.

Ezekiel Guti was a man of vision, passion, and humility. He touched millions of lives with his ministry and left a lasting legacy for generations to come. He will be remembered as one of the greatest African apostles of all time.

Rest In Peace God's General

By Apostle Aleck Lionde

You served God's will and purpose, nothing else was left. You fought a good fight, you run your race and you kept your faith. You left us a legacy to learn and lean on.

Acts 13:36

[36]For David, after he had served God's will and purpose and counsel in his own generation, fell asleep [in death].

Strive Masiyiwa Pays Tribute To Archbishop Guti

A Fuel Stop on Faith’s Journey...

__My farewell tribute to the beloved Archbishop Ezekiel Guti

I remember the day like it was yesterday and yet it was actually 27 years ago. A visitor came to our home in Harare and informed me that Bishop Guti (as he was then) wanted to see me. Given the constant surveillance from security agents that I lived under, I was advised to give them a slip and go to the place where I was to see him.

I have rarely been so excited in my whole life to meet someone. This man already in his seventies was a legend in global Christian circles and few people got a chance to meet him personally. I was not a member of his church congregation and never became a member. The ministry he had built from 1960, known as the Zimbabwe Assemblies of God Africa [ZAOGA], already boasted millions of members and was expanding throughout Africa and the world.

As I was ushered into his office, I was immediately struck by the humble surroundings; the room was small and had just a few simple chairs. He himself was sitting at an equally simple and worn desk that could have been bought from a local furniture store.

He warmly invited me to sit on a chair at his desk, and smiled kindly, before saying in a very soft voice, “Shall we pray?”

I bowed my head as he did, and listened to a short but barely audible prayer in which he thanked God for protecting me and giving me the faith to endure the persecution I was under.

Although he asked me to give him a history of the dispute by which the government had banned me from operating my business, a mobile telephone network, it was clear after a few moments that he was extremely well briefed.

He listened with keen sparkling eyes that just looked straight at me as I spoke. The warmth he generated was so powerful that I just felt love filling my heart. At one time he reached into his pocket and gave me a handkerchief as I realised that tears were falling down my cheeks.

“There is no problem with what you are trying to do; it’s just corrupt people using the system for their own gain," he said quietly. “You have taken a stand against corruption, which is your duty as a Christian.”

He had a huge well worn Bible on his desk, and he said to me, “You know, of course, there is no weapon ever devised by man against The Word of God. I’m told you are a ferocious reader of the Bible.”

“Yes sir,” I replied. “I currently go through the entire Bible twice a year, and I just can’t get enough of it.”

“It is that and that alone that is generating the power called faith and that is why you are unstoppable. I want you to intensify your study.”

For a while, I shared with him some testimonies of how I felt God had been helping me. He enjoyed every moment of it and I saw him get excited.

At one time he lifted his hand and said, “You know of course that you are going to prevail?”

“Yes, Baba, I know; I have always known.”

“Go my son, you are going to prevail, and keep doing what you are doing.” I knelt down as he prayed.

And with that, I left as quietly as I had come. He instructed that I be invited to teach a Bible class to an interdenominational gathering of business people over lunchtime every single day. I had my own weekly slot which was well attended.

I would simply lead a reading of the Bible, avoiding to say anything that could be deemed political or social commentary. It was a powerful message that the church stood with me, and before long, other ministers requested me to do the same.

It would be another two years before we finally prevailed through the Courts. And yet that meeting was a “Fuel stop on my journey of faith”.  Although the persecution that eventually led me to leave the country 5 years later would intensify, after that meeting I felt validated and encouraged. I kept it as a reminder, and whenever shaken by any setback, I turned to my own little pocket Bible knowing I was not alone.

On the day we launched our business, the nation’s church leaders from all denominations gathered for a service of Thanksgiving. Bishop Guti sent the most senior leaders of his vast ministry.

I did not meet him personally again for perhaps a decade, but he routinely reached out to me to find out how I was doing. On one occasion he invited me to meet the great Evangelist and now late Myles Monroe.

Our last meeting took place a few years ago on a British Airways flight to London. I met him in the lounge with just his wife Amai Guti and one assistant. For those who did not know him, it could have just been any elderly man traveling with his wife. Such remarkable humility.

We walked to the plane together. To anyone looking who did not know, it was just an elderly couple walking with their son, and in many ways, it was how I would have loved the whole world to see it... my Baba and Amai (Apostle) Eunor Guti.

My condolences, thoughts and prayers are with Amai Archbishop Eunor Guti and the Guti family, and all from across Zimbabwe, Africa, and the world, who are touched by his departure. May Archbishop Guti's memory as a centenary light of Hope, Faith, Grace, and Love continue to bless and strengthen our journeys, inspiring us in Jesus' name to lives of humble courage, compassion, and kindness to all along our paths.

Fungisai Reflects On Social Media Effects

By Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave

Social media can be a conduit to self emancipation or self destruction. Pause, Fungisisa and count the benefits it has brought you. Think of the draw backs it has caused you. If the negatives outweigh the positives, take a break from the addiction. The addiction we have been fearful of is that to drugs but if you look closely, social media addiction has killed dreams, ambitions and hustles. Where people used to work 10 hrs in a day, 3/4 is now drowned in the thumb scrolling. From tik tok, Facebook, twitter, WhatsApp, google etc. Your dreams are forgotten, the drive to work hard and excel has died down. When all you seek is entertainment on Social Media every minute or second, decide to rehabilitate yourself. You are under siege from a spirit of poverty, laziness and procrastination! It can even take you deep into the night scrolling across posts. The children are forgotten, the ambition too and the family unit is long gone munhu wese akangotsikitsira pafon yake! What kind of witchcraft is this one?! Do yourself a favor and switch off the social media accounts for productive hours in a day. Switch the phone off if need be. It’s ok to have a phone time table for functionality purposes. Otherwise we are doomed as a generation. Believe you me, too much of anything is toxic. If its not adding any value or if it’s hampering your developmental progress,  it’s ok to disconnect and reconnect only when necessary. ……………. That was me preaching on my page to myself and hundreds of thousands others this morning. Ndatotsvaga Bishop Prisca Soko kuti vandiperekedze neshoko iri.

Add Value To Lives Of Those Around You

"Cultivating a strong belief in the transformative power of adding value to people's lives, we can witness our own worth and relevance flourish.

By lifting others up, we inherently elevate ourselves. Rescuing individuals from the depths of obscurity propels us towards a pinnacle of prominence.

These insightful words,  remind us that through selflessly serving others, we not only extend their horizons but also enhance our own growth and recognition."

Church Commemorates Day Of African Child

 Weekend Talk

Celebrating The International Day of the African Child

By Lorraine Mavunga

The 1976 Soweto uprising gave birth to the International Day of the African Child which has been celebrated on June 16 every year since 1991.

This was first initiated by the Organisation of African Unity to honour those who participated in the uprising.

This year, 2023 the theme of the commemorations is, The Rights of the Child in the Digital Environment. This has come in handy as parents and guardians are struggling with raising children in the digital era.

As this year’s theme states, children have rights in the digital environment. These include right to freedom of expression, privacy and security.

This then becomes contradictory as right to privacy states that individuals have a right to exist freely on the internet, in that they can choose what type of information they are exposed to.

As such children have a right to enjoy digital privacy Whereas security entails preventing and mitigating the risks that are inherently involved with using digital technologies. So without parental guidance our children are not cyber safe as they over share personal information and have access to some information which can put them at a risk.

The challenge we have today is children are being taught rights without responsibilities. Rights are said to be freedoms we have that are protected by our laws, while responsibilities are duties or things that we should do, such as ethics, empathy and other responsibilities to ensure a safe and responsible digital environment for all.

Therefore, parents need to teach their children that, to be good citizens, or members of a community, they need to understand their rights and responsibilities.

We can never argue that technology is of great importance in the lives of both the young and the old as it has made the world into a global village, people throughout the world are interconnected.

The internet exposes children to a wealth of opportunities, but also has risks that may have a detrimental impact on their human rights. Some of these risks include cyberbullying, online grooming, cybercrime and child sexual abuse material.

It is also important to note that technology can negatively affect children's developing social and emotional skills, social isolation, unrealistic views of other people's lives, peer pressure., and overall ability to focus.

This can lead to more children being socially problematic, withdrawn, shy, or intimidated by social situations.

Thus, parents need to know that generally, technology use can cause social and behavioural problems in children as it minimizes the amount of time kids spend interacting with others.

So we need to make sure we monitor our children’s internet use and be aware of the types of websites they're visiting and the games they're playing online.

In as much as they claim the right to privacy, it is our responsibility to protect them from harmful, risky and unhealthy internet content.

We need model good behaviour on our own social media accounts, thus setting a good example.

There is need to set screen time limits and set rules on when screens are appropriate to use.

We also have to teach our children the importance of “disconnecting” from devices for technology-free time. Social media can be exciting, but it should be considered entertainment.

Let’s remind our children to:

 Remember: once posted, always posted.

 Build a positive online reputation.

 Keep personal info personal.

 Never share passwords (other than with parents).

  Never agree to get together in person with anyone met online without parent approval and/or supervision.

Happy International Day of the African Child

Church Person Word Of Advice

By Fungisai Zvakavapano Mashavave

The highest form of satisfaction comes with a solid self awareness and acceptance, the realization of one ‘s uniqueness and full ownership of all dimensions of one’s personality.

Indeed I am everything I have created with my mind and I know God is in it all. Never will I apologize for being versatile and excessively gifted.

I could still fold my hands and marvel at the awesomeness of God just by scrolling down my diversified catalogue.

So much thanks to anyone who has found even just half any song of mine useful. You give me reason to live and love myself. Stay blessed.
