Wednesday showers of blessings come from Colossians 1: - 14 "For this cause, we also, since the day we heard this, don’t cease praying and making requests for you, that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who made us fit to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the Kingdom of the Son of his love, in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins."
Because of their faith in JESUS CHRIST and their practical love for the saints, the Apostles never ceased to pray for them. Vs 10 Paul gave reasons why he never cease to pray. Today vs 11, he further gave more reasons as to why he keeps on praying: so that they can endure and persevere with joy. He also pray a thanksgiving prayer for our transformation from being enemies of GOD to becoming Children who partake of the inheritance of the saints who are delivered from the powers of darkness.
Lessons from this text that may help us to keep our faith is that: when we are in CHRIST, the devil fights us badly. Therefore, we need to endure and preserve the evil attacks with joy. Obviously these attacks come in various ways. Where does our joy come from in suffering? It comes in the fact of grace revealed in vs 12-14. We have been delivered from the powers of darkness now we are children of GOD. We are partakers of the inheritance of the saints. That's why we are attacked, so that we can give up on CHRIST and come back to the devil's bondage. Our redemption compels us to endure and persevere with joy. Amen.
