United Methodist Church Donates Relief Supplies to Support Zimbabweans Returning from South Africa

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has received a donation of food and non-food items from the United Methodist Church, aimed at bolstering ongoing support for Zimbabwean citizens returning home from South Africa.

The consignment was formally handed over at a ceremony held in Harare, with ZCC officials receiving the donation on behalf of the organisation.

Through this initiative, ZCC continues to work alongside Government efforts to ensure a safe and dignified return and reintegration process for citizens coming back from South Africa.

Since the crisis began in June 2026, ZCC has provided direct assistance—both independently and through its network of member churches—including food, personal hygiene supplies, transport fare to final destinations, healthcare support, psychosocial counselling, and spiritual care to those in need. This work is carried out in close coordination with multisectoral Government teams under the Civil Protection Department, particularly at the Beitbridge port of entry and other temporary waiting centres set up nationwide.

ZCC expressed deep appreciation to the United Methodist Church for heeding the call and standing in solidarity with returning citizens, describing the donation as a powerful example of the Church's mission extending beyond the pulpit—putting faith into action to preserve dignity, ensure safety, and offer hope during times of crisis.
