The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) and the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) on Tuesday signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the ZHRC headquarters in Harare, marking a significant step toward deepening cooperation in the promotion and protection of human rights.
The partnership is anchored on key principles that focus on advancing human rights and constitutionalism through awareness programmes, research initiatives and the promotion of administrative justice. Through this collaboration, the two institutions seek to enhance public understanding of constitutional rights and responsibilities across communities.
The MoU also amplifies the role of the Church in fostering justice, peace and social cohesion, while strengthening efforts to protect vulnerable and marginalised groups. This aligns with the Church’s constitutional mandate to act as a moral compass and advocate for dignity, equity and accountability in society.
The continued collaboration between ZCC and ZHRC is expected to contribute meaningfully to national dialogue processes and promote hope-driven engagement on governance, peacebuilding and human rights in Zimbabwe.
