he National Dialogue Conference continued with a powerful session focusing on the National Dialogue and Engagement Document, building on the opening keynote messages from the Zimbabwe Human Rights and Community Development (ZHOCD) leadership. A panel of distinguished stakeholders emphasized unity, justice, and inclusive engagement, underscoring the role of Christian values in fostering national cohesion.
Commissioner Jessie Majome, Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission, highlighted the importance of human rights, constitutionalism, and citizen protection as essential pillars for meaningful dialogue. “Any process of national healing must be rooted in respect for human dignity and the rights of every individual,” she said.
MacDonald Munyoro of the National Association of NGOs stressed the critical role of civil society in safeguarding democratic space, promoting community participation, and ensuring accountability. “Civil society must work hand in hand with communities, guided by principles of service and stewardship, to strengthen our democracy,” he noted.
Community representative Tariro Gurure brought grassroots perspectives into the discussion, emphasizing the need to address social inequalities and prioritize the voices of ordinary citizens, especially vulnerable groups such as youth, women, and persons with disabilities. “True dialogue is one that listens to all, guided by compassion, justice, and a sense of moral responsibility,” she said.
Representing the Ministry of Justice, Lyna Sizi reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to justice sector reforms, national healing, and upholding the rule of law. “Trust and cohesion can only grow where justice, mercy, and integrity guide our national vision,” she stated.
The panel concluded that for Zimbabwe to progress, dialogue must be inclusive, rights-based, rooted in communities, and guided by Christian-inspired values of justice, reconciliation, and service to others.
