The Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ) has marked Human Rights Day 2025 with a powerful reminder that every individual carries God-given worth, dignity, and purpose. In a statement released today, the umbrella body for evangelical churches affirmed that the pursuit of justice and the protection of human rights are not merely civic obligations but deeply rooted Christian responsibilities.
EFZ emphasised that all people are created in the image of God, and therefore deserving of freedom, fairness, and respect. “Every person is worthy of dignity, justice, and freedom as God’s creation,” the organisation declared, urging Christians across the nation to reflect on this truth as they commemorate the global day.
The fellowship called on believers to raise awareness in their communities, stand boldly with the vulnerable, and actively contribute to building a society where justice prevails. Anchoring its message in Scripture, the EFZ referenced Isaiah 1:17, which instructs God’s people to “learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed.”
According to the EFZ, Christians are uniquely positioned to influence both spiritual and social spheres, making their engagement vital in the struggle for human rights. The organisation encouraged churches to pray, advocate, and act with compassion, emphasising that faith must translate into tangible service for the common good.
As Zimbabwe and the world reflect on Human Rights Day 2025, the EFZ’s message serves as a call to renewed commitment — a reminder that true discipleship involves standing for justice, protecting human dignity, and shining Christ’s light in places of suffering and inequality.
