THANKSGIVING

Luke 17:11-19

_Jesus will come to your village._

_As Jesus continued on towards Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, crying out "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"_ (vs 11-12)

The road to Jerusalem was a highway, and yet Jesus chose to leave the highway and got into the village of Samaria; not a city or a town but a village. It was intentional that Jesus made a

detour into a village.

What lesson do we learn from Jesus' getting into a small village? Jesus reaches out to everyone wherever they may be. He will never pass you by when you have a need.

Jesus knows that the needy are not only found in big cities but in small villages too. Where there is a need, there Jesus can reach anyone at their point of need.

Jesus will come to your village situation. When he comes to you,  it is up to you to meet him and tell him your need.

Leprosy was bad news at that time because it was incurable. If you got infected with leprosy you had to stay out of the home and keep shouting, _"unclean! unclean,"_ to  keep people safe from contracting the deadly disease.

This meant a life of suffering in isolation. When nobody else wants to make contact with you, Jesus  goes out of his way to meet you.

Never feel lonely and rejected in your small village and with leprosy eating you away. Jesus will certainly come your way and attend to your need.

Amen
