*Smell the Coffee And Do Something For The Environment*
This is Climate Change awareness season and I exhort all Zimbos to think upon these things and change maitiro in ways, to be friends to Mother Earth and be active and environmentally enlightened citizens.
Zimbabwe, ichanzi Rhodesia, actually put itself on the map environmentally when those golden girls, the Rhino girls, Charlene Hewat and Julie Edwards cycled for the rhino in 1986/7 giving this endangered species a voice to tell the world how it was under the threat of extinction from rampant poaching.
They cycled from from Glasgow in Scotland UK through Europe, Egypt, the Serengeti and onto Victoria Falls.
I think they are now in their 60s but I don’t know what they are up to now, but I know they formed an organisation, Environment Africa 2000 aimed at spearheading environmental awareness in Zimbabwe.
Zvino nechibhoyi bhoyi chedu ichi tinototi vanopenga or vaipenga.
We are citizens of the world; we are the Adams and the Eves. We must toil to look after this Garden of Eden.
Ladies and gentlemen Climate Change is wrecking havoc on Mother Earth and we need to wake up to smell the coffee. Actually smell the stench and do something about it!
We can each do simple little things. Things like composting, planting trees, particularly fruit trees, reduce use of plastic, use manyowa ehuku or mombe instead of fertilisers, recycle, reuse, reduce travel.
Fuel consumption by buses, gonyets and cars need to be reduced. The western world is going fully electrical in transport within the next decade. Zimbabwe, Africa, needs to get serious and follow suit.
Till next week, be blessed.

HI, I am Charlene Hewat, one of the "Rhino Girl's". Yip I am in my 60's now but still alive and working with conservation and communities in Zimbabwe. I am based in Victoria Falls, one of the Natural Wonders of the World and carrying out work here. Mainly supporting youth and helping them.
ReplyDeleteI am passionate about my Country Zimbabwe and love our people, our wildlife and our nature.
After Environment Africa, which is still going and doing well, I started another organisation called Greenline Africa Trust. Check it out on facebook and see what we are up to. Cop 15 is coming to Vicfalls on the 23rd July which is exciting.
Everyone can do something to help Conservation and Communities.
Environmentally yours
