Acts 13:1-3

Reverend N Murambadoro

"Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off."

The Church is a Body of CHRIST. It has many parts with different functions to serve one purpose.

This early Church had prophets and teachers. This early Church also demonstrated to us how we ought to worship. She was setting a pace for us all.

This early Church fasted and prayed together. They even laid hands. This portion of Scripture challenged me a lot when I reflect to our Church and in many other Churches today.

Are we really setting the pace of worship to the generations to come. Will they give reference to us? What will they copy and carry forward? Are we really living upto the expected standard of worship?

May the SPIRIT of GOD help us and enable us to follow on the footsteps of the early Church. Amen.
