Virtue Versus Vice

 *Bible Text: Proverbs 29:23(KJV)*

 _A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit._

Pride and humility are extremely opposite morals of differing values. They all are issues of the heart.

Humility is a *virtue* of dignity and respect.  Pride is a *vice* of vanity and false opinion of oneself.

Simply because pride is blind to true values it survives on a false sense and deceived opinion of reality.

Pride  hides behind faked pictures and misleading portrayals of reality.  At the end of the day when reality is revealed,  pride disappears into social archives like vapour disappering into thin air.

Nothing of pride remains behind as a legacy to next generation.  Pride has no value.  It is an empty ego of inferiority complex.  It brings its victims down to the bottomless pit of shame and embarrassment.

 *Proverbs 11:2(KJV)*

 _When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom._

The first creature to be identified with the vanity of pride in the Bibie is Lucifer.

All people under this Luciferian spirit of pride have no sense of proper value and vision for life.

 They live under a false assumotion that they are the best of all characters yet they are the worst.

The following scripture passage is Biblical narrative of the creature that was  first identified with pride in Heaven. The creature is Lucufèr by name but a direct representation of Satan.

 *Isaiah 14:12-15(KJV* )

 _How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!_

 _For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:_

 _I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High_ .

 _Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit_ .

Lucifer imagined himself going higher and higher than everybody else and even imagine himself being like GOD.

He was a creature created to worship but envied God's worship and desired it for himself instead of giving it to God.

 When that was registered in the heavenly courts it became Lucifer's demise and doom. He was brought low to estates of the dead.

Pride will help you dig you own grave of humiliation.
Pride brings down  and not  up. Adam was affected by the same spirit of pride  and he came tumbling down to levels of shame.

 *Genesis 3:7(KJV)*

 _And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons._

Our Lord was the most humble person on earth in his time and God exalted him above all.

 *Philippians 2:5-9(KJV)*

 _Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:_

 _Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God_ :

 _But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men_ :

 _And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross._

 _Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:_

Christ was the epitome  and perfect example  of humility to human kind.  He set the bar of humility low enough for all to benefit except the proud.

 *Psalms 10:4(KJV)*

 _The wicked, through the *pride* of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts_ .

Pride has no room for God.  The proud keep God out of their minds.

One of the weaknesses of pride if not its wickedness,  it does not take advice.  Pride does not seek advice under the false pretence that all is well.  

There is a thin line between pride and hypocrisy such that you can hardly notice the difference  Hypocrisy paints a false picture of reality and so does pride.  These two vices,  pride and hypocrisy,  are twin sisters of deception.

When you share accommodation with sister pride or sister hypocrisy,  you will live under a canopy self-deception

Humility is a godly virtue but pride is an evil vice.

This discussion of humility versus pride serves to unveil the deception of pride and the blessing of humility.
