Bishop Muparutsa Appointed AFReG Global President at Jamaica Convention

Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe (EFZ) President Bishop N. Muparutsa has been appointed the Global President of the African Forum on Religion and Government (AFReG), marking a major milestone for Zimbabwean religious leadership on the international stage.

Bishop Muparutsa was officially commissioned during the AFReG 5 Convention held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, where church leaders, government representatives, business executives, and civic organizations gathered to discuss Africa’s transformation through faith-based leadership and integrity-driven governance.

AFReG, which is patroned by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, seeks to bring together influential leaders from across sectors to promote God-centered values and ethical leadership across Africa and beyond.

The appointment has been described as a significant recognition of Bishop Muparutsa’s leadership within both Zimbabwe and the wider African Christian community.

In addition to his new global role, Bishop Muparutsa currently serves as the Vice President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa (AEA) and Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD).

EFZ members and partners welcomed the appointment, saying they were proud to be associated with Bishop Muparutsa’s visionary leadership and expressed confidence that his influence would positively impact communities across the continent and globally.

The development is expected to further elevate Zimbabwe’s visibility within continental religious and governance platforms as AFReG continues advocating for integrity, unity, and transformational leadership.
