A vibrant youth empowerment initiative unfolded in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, as Christian Care, in partnership with Magnificent International Arts (MIA), successfully hosted a detergent-making workshop combined with a youth development meeting.
The event brought together young people from various churches under the Zimbabwe Council of Churches, including the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe, Methodist Church, Lutheran Church, and the United Church of Christ in Zimbabwe (UCCZ). The strong participation reflected growing unity among churches in advancing youth empowerment programmes.
During the hands-on training session, participants gained practical knowledge in producing liquid detergent, petroleum jelly (Vaseline), and disinfectant bleach (Domestos). These skills are expected to help young people meet household needs while also creating opportunities for income generation.
The workshop focused on promoting self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and active youth involvement in community development, equipping participants with tools to improve their livelihoods and contribute positively to society.
Speaking at the event, Christian Care Masvingo Regional Chairperson, Mr. Tawanda Mudzimba, applauded the youths for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to utilize the knowledge gained:
“Our goal is to empower young people with practical skills that can transform their lives and enable them to contribute meaningfully to their communities.”
Magnificent International Arts (MIA) Regional Chairperson, Daisy Razidane, highlighted the importance of collaboration in reaching and empowering more youths:
