Guard Your Heart ...

Scripture: Proverbs 4:23

By Dorcas Moyo

This message pains me deeply, because if it is not understood and handled correctly, one can end up being a Christian in name only. If we miss its meaning, we may find ourselves praying together while spiritually dead, even though we are physically alive. The truth is, 100% of us are affected by this issue at one stage or another in life, and today I have come to address it once again.

Among us are women who were rejected by their husbands; others who terminated pregnancies and were later abandoned by their boyfriends. There are those who no longer trust because they were deeply hurt by past lovers. Some have backslidden in their faith and grown cold. Others refuse to lend because they were never repaid. There are even people who knowingly spread HIV, justifying their actions by saying they were once treated cruelly. And many other painful and shameful things are happening—things that do not please the Lord.

Our key verse says:

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)

Oh my goodness! Have you ever seen how heavily world leaders are guarded across the globe? Yet the Word of God says your heart must be guarded even more than that. Think about our own country—how are diamonds in Chiadzwa protected? With extreme security. But Scripture still says, guard your heart more than the guarding of Chiadzwa diamonds. Think of prisons and other high-security places you know—God’s Word says your heart must be guarded more than all of these.

You may ask, “Why are you saying this, Dorcas?”

I am saying this: if a position or title prevents you from worshipping God, if it kills your heart spiritually, then guard your heart and resign from that vice-chairperson position rather than cling to a seat that destroys your soul.

Guard your heart above all else, because from it flow the springs of life.

Hallelujah!

I wish you all a blessed week.
