Zimbabwe Council of Churches Christmas Message...

The Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) has extended warm Christmas greetings and end-of-year blessings to Zimbabweans, calling on the nation to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and to embrace peace, humility and love.

In its Christmas message, the ZCC reminded believers and the nation at large of the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ, drawing from the words of the prophet Isaiah: “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… and he shall be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

“As we come to the end of another year and gather to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Zimbabwe Council of Churches extends warm Christmas greetings and end-of-year blessings to all our member churches, ecumenical partners, people of goodwill, and the nation of Zimbabwe at large,” the Council said.

The ZCC emphasised that Christmas is not merely a festive season, but a powerful reminder of God’s deep involvement in human life. “Christmas proclaims the profound truth that God enters human history, not in power or privilege, but in humility, vulnerability, and love,” the statement said.

The Council encouraged Zimbabweans to allow the message of Christmas to shape their attitudes and actions, especially in a context marked by economic hardship, social challenges and uncertainty. According to the ZCC, the birth of Christ offers hope, comfort and guidance, pointing people towards reconciliation, justice and compassion.

The churches also called on leaders, communities and families to be guided by the values embodied in Christ, the “Prince of Peace”, and to work together for the common good of the nation.

“As we celebrate this holy season, may the light of Christ bring healing to the broken, hope to the weary, and peace to our communities and our nation,” the ZCC said.

The Council concluded by wishing all Zimbabweans a peaceful Christmas and a blessed new year, rooted in faith, unity and renewed commitment to love and service.
