The strong ties between the church and government were on display at the Harare Eastern Division (H.E.D) Annual Congress held on Saturday at Mupfuiranga Congress Site in Chihota.
Marondera Rural District Council Ward 14 Councillor, Jeremiah Gwanzura, made a symbolic donation of 100 chicks to The Salvation Army Harare Eastern Division, applauding the church’s role in uplifting communities.
Councillor Gwanzura commended The Salvation Army for spearheading development projects in his ward, including borehole drilling and the construction of ablution facilities, which he said were complementing government programmes aimed at improving rural livelihoods.
“The Salvation Army has shown that the church is not only a spiritual institution but also a development partner,” Gwanzura said, stressing the importance of continued collaboration.
The Annual Congress brought together congregants, leaders, and community representatives to celebrate and strengthen partnerships that drive both spiritual and social development.
