Churches Hold Prayer Vigil at Manyame Bridge Accident Scene

By A Correspondent

Congregants from several major Christian denominations gathered at the Manyame Bridge accident scene along Seke Road for a solemn prayer session aimed at honoring the lives lost and seeking divine intervention for road safety.

The interdenominational gathering included members from the United Methodist Church, Methodist Church in Zimbabwe, Anglican Church, Salvation Army, and the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe, among others.

Worshippers sang hymns, read scripture, and offered prayers for the victims of recent traffic accidents in the area, as well as for the healing of the nation.

"We are here to stand in the gap, to intercede for those who lost their lives and pray for safety on our roads," said one of the church elders. "Too many lives have been lost on this stretch, and we believe that only God can heal the pain and prevent further tragedy."

Manyame Bridge has become a known hotspot for fatal accidents, prompting both local residents and churches to call for greater awareness, infrastructural upgrades, and prayerful reflection.

"We cannot continue to witness such carnage without taking action," said another congregant. "This prayer session is part of a broader appeal to both the authorities and the public to respect life and the rules of the road."

The vigil concluded with a symbolic laying of wreaths and candles at the site, as attendees called for peace, healing, and accountability.
