MOTIVATION EXPRESS...

with Tendai Muchena

Once upon a hockey season, back in high school.

We had had a rough season, and what sealed it was an afternoon at one of the good hockey schools, where all our school's teams had been beaten left, right, and center.

We were indifferent about it as we had accepted that it was what it was. We had encountered "uzvambukile lomnyaka", how could we recover from it?

The following afternoon, our coach gifted us cross country, followed by a 400m run around the field and continuous games of hockey until it was time to go home.

This was his way of reminding us that we were capable of anything, and it was beneath us to get beaten so badly and to get us back on track. Needless to say, we didn't lose any other game that season.

Were we stronger than what we thought we were, or did we not want more of these "gifts"?......a story for another day.

Life gives us the most sometimes. We sometimes get so used to the downfalls and the heartbreaks that we no longer see a way out and accept life as we know it.

Beyond the downfalls, God declared that we should have life in abundance.

Beyond the heartbreaks, there is an everlasting love from our Father that can not be matched.

Are we not doing an injustice to ourselves then when we accept that we are less than and not worthy of all the good things He promised us?

"Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

He loved you and chose you to be His before you even knew Him. He knew who you would be now, but He loved you still.

Don't let anything distance you from what He promised you and what you ought to receive as a child of God.

Life happens, but through it all, never forget the promises of God upon your life. He loves you either way, and you ought to rise above all you encounter, no matter how bad it is.
