Let Your Mouth Glorify God, Not Speak Filth
Satan is aggressively working to expand his influence, and one of his most effective tools is corrupting believers through their speech. Today, many Christians have become comfortable speaking or consuming vulgar content. Some might say, “I don’t say such things,” yet they enjoy reading or listening to obscene material. But if your heart delights in such things, aren’t you still sinning?
The Word of God in Colossians 3:8 clearly states: “But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.” This scripture outright condemns obscene speech—regardless of the situation or your status.
Some try to justify their actions by saying, “We’re just joking around,” or, “It’s just workplace banter.” But the truth remains: the mouth of a Christian should reflect the purity of their heart, not utter things that are offensive to God.
Social media has become a major source of moral decay. Many pages and groups promote vulgar content and have gained huge followings, even among believers. Some people go as far as creating fake accounts just to post or comment with profane language. The big question is: if there are so many Christians online, why is God’s message being outshined by worldly content?
WhatsApp is no different. Groups sharing indecent content are on the rise—and in many cases, believers themselves are the admins. Today, people are no longer shocked by love messages on someone’s phone, but rather by the flood of obscene media stored in it. For many, God’s Word is absent from their devices.
Another issue is the rise of false teachings disguised as relationship advice. Many self-proclaimed teachers are using this platform to spread impure ideas rather than build godly homes. True homes are founded on love, truth, and God’s Word—not vulgarity.
The Bible is clear in its command to avoid obscene talk. Our mouths should show reverence to God, regardless of gender or status. His Word does not change—do not speak what He forbids.
Beware that your mouth does not lead you to the “VIP section of hell.” Rise up, Christians! Pray for God to renew your speech and purify your heart.
