showers of blessings
By Reverend N Murambadoro
Acts 13:42-44 "As they [Paul and Barnabas] went out [of the synagogue], the people earnestly begged that these things might be told to them [further] the next Sabbath.
And when the congregation of the synagogue dispersed, many of the Jews and the devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked to them and urged them to continue [to trust themselves to and to stand fast] in the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God.
The next Sabbath almost the entire city gathered together to hear the Word of God [concerning the attainment through Christ of salvation in the kingdom of God].
This passage reveals the side of the Gospel which is encouraging and interesting things in the Kingdom of GOD. Firstly, when you preach and people respond positively. It encourages the preacher, it motivates the preacher, it adds the fuel.
This was a feedback to Paul and Barnabas that their message had yielded the fruit. It wasn't in vain. Sometimes as a preacher, you got so confused when you preach and don't get the feedback. It feels like, you did nothing.
Another encouraging and interesting thing is that the people who urged Paul and Barnabas were not just ordinary people but they were devout converts to Judaism.
These were men of status. The other other thing that's encouraging in this passage is that: when these people of high and low status heard the Gospel preached by Paul and Barnabas, they also took it to the city. It is clear that, it was the Word of their Testimony that actually went viral in the city. Why? Because the next Sabbath almost the entire city came to hear the Gospel of salvation.
My Brethren, I am convinced that we all have a role to play in spreading the Gospel.
Do self introspection: What role are you playing to make the Gospel of salvation reach out to other people. Are you the preacher? Are you testifying what the preacher is preaching? Are you funding the preacher? Are you giving feedback?
Are you encouraging the preacher? There is so much we can do, to keep the Gospel spreading. What is your role? Amen.
Blessings and Shalom
