OBEDIENCE SUSTAINS JOY

“And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus said unto him; they have no wine.” (John 2:3)

Wine speaks of joy. Can you imagine removing joy from a wedding? What then will be left? Certainly the devil was at work. Likewise, the devil steals people’s joy at the point they have cause to rejoice.

Imagine you are rejoicing that you have just bought a new car. They suddenly your boss in the office picks on you for no good reason and everything begins to go haywire.

You just had a miracle baby and you are so happy that you will hold a party to commemorate the goodness of God in your life.

The next morning, your husband’s job is terminated without benefits. That is the devil at his best. He likes to steal joy from people’s lives.

In the wedding ceremony in John 2:5, Mary gave the disciples of Jesus divine instructions which they obeyed and joy was restored in a greater measure at the wedding ceremony.

In John 2:7, the bible says, “Jesus saith unto them, fill the water pots with water, and they filled them up to the brim.” Now imagine how the servants felt.

You can picture some of them saying. What kind of Jesus is this? We are not in need of water but wine.”

In a sense that water represents all your tears. Jesus is gathering all the tears you have shed for years and He is producing a miracle out of it.

WORDS OF WISDOM: There is a reward with your name printed on it for you.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord, as I obey your divine instruction, turn my tears to joy. Amen!
