In a statement issued on March 2, 2026, police identified the suspect as Daniel Munyanyi, describing him as the central figure in investigations into the killings. He was located and taken into custody late in the afternoon while allegedly hiding in the Nyika area of Bikita, Masvingo Province.
Authorities said members of the public played a significant role in the arrest by alerting police and assisting in handing over the suspect.
Police also confirmed that a firearm believed to have been used in the attack was recovered shortly after the arrest. The weapon is expected to be key evidence as investigations continue.
