The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe marked a significant milestone on 1 March 2026 with the installation of Reverend Lionel Nkomo as the new Pastor-in-Charge of Masase Parish.
The installation ceremony was officiated by Bishop K. Sibanda, who led the congregation in formally welcoming Rev Nkomo into his new pastoral role. The event drew members of the church community, clergy, and invited guests who gathered to witness the important occasion in the life of the parish.
Also present at the ceremony was Reverend R. Nyoni, Chaplain at Masase Mission, who joined in witnessing and supporting the installation. The service was characterized by prayers, words of encouragement, and expressions of hope for the future of the parish under new leadership.
In his remarks, Bishop Sibanda emphasized the responsibility entrusted to Rev Nkomo, urging him to shepherd the congregation with dedication, humility, and faithfulness to God’s Word. The congregation responded with joy and optimism, pledging their support as he begins his ministry at Masase.
Rev Nkomo’s appointment is expected to strengthen the spiritual life and mission work of Masase Parish, as the church community looks forward to a season of growth, unity, and renewed commitment.
