Matthew 5:13“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
As believers, we are called to be agents of morality and positive values. As we enforce the goodness of God through our daily conduct, we keep evil at bay. As agents of transformation and uprightness, we must stand for the truth and for the will of God to prevail. While we therefore exist in the world, our behaviour must be different from that of the world. We must bring healing in society and give people hope in places where despair abounds.
Jesus came so that we may have life in abundance. As His followers, that life must flow through us to everyone around us. We must reflect the goodness that Christ put in our hearts so that all who encounter us may turn to God and be transformed into the 'salt of the earth' too. Let us, therefore, refuse to fall short of our purpose by being good for nothing except to be thrown away. Let us stand in our positions of value and fulfil the expectations God has set for us.
Prayer - Lord Jesus, help me to live up to my purpose as the 'salt of the earth' in all my conduct so that You may be elevated through me, Amen.
