#HappeningNow Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) Youth President Pritchard Madanyika has called on young people to rise and take their rightful place in safeguarding the nation’s resources, grounding his message in Scripture.
Delivering his Theological Reflections on Youth Participation in Decision-Making Processes, Madanyika drew from Genesis 2:7–12, where God entrusted Adam with stewardship of creation. He said this same divine mandate rests on today’s youth, who are custodians of Zimbabwe’s mineral wealth.
“Young people must not only be consumers of resources, but stewards and protectors of what God has placed in our hands,” Madanyika emphasized.
He urged youth to step into spaces where critical decisions about resource governance are made and to educate themselves on the responsibilities of local leaders. This knowledge, he said, is vital for effectively influencing policymaking and ensuring that Zimbabwe’s natural wealth is managed justly and responsibly.
