A mighty angel proclaims the fall of Babylon and the caused her fall as God's followers are invited to come out of her and be not defiled by her sins and wickedness. The kings of the earth lament her fate and the merchants also bewail her sorceries.
The articles of her merchandise are revealed and so the shipmasters find bo business to do anymore with her.
In her distress, all heaven rejoices over her fall and her final desolation is here foretold.
_1️⃣Revelation 18:1-10: The fall of Babylon, her judgment as she committed fornication with the kings, merchant and sailors of the world but God's people are exhorted to come out her._
Another angel with great power and authority or rather a minister of the Gospel, or a set of Gospel ministers who will arise a little before the downfall of Babylon in the spiritual reign of Christ, having been sent by the King of kings and Lord of lords will be sent to announce the fall of Babylon.
The Apostle Paul says, "But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?"
(Hebrews 1:13-14)
The causes of her fall is her fornication with the kings of the earth, merchants, traders and sailors who had partook of her sins.
The prophet Isaiah says, "And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible."(Isaiah 13:11)
Her abominations make her the place of every unclean animal and birds comparable to unclean spirits which now haunt and abound in her.
The Apostle Paul says, "Why come out from among them, and be you separate, said the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you."
(2 Corinthians 6:17)
The saints are exhorted to come out of her and so not to partake of her sins which had reached up to heaven and so not to receive her plagues.
The prophet Jeremiah says, "Flee out of the middle of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render to her a recompense."
(Jeremiah 51:6).
Babylon, the Apostate Church system who sat as a queen, will now be like a widow and shall suffer sorrow and defeat as her torment and judgment will come in a short time.
The prophet Isaiah says, "And you said, I shall be a lady for ever: so that you did not lay these things to your heart, neither did remember the latter end of it. Therefore hear now this, you that are given to pleasures, that dwell carelessly, that say in your heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children." (Isaiah 47:7-8)
_2️⃣Revelation 18:11-19: The merchants and traders lament over her._
The merchants of the world will mourn as they used to extort the world because of her false doctrines which did not uplift and glorify God's name.
The prophet Micah says, "Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights?" (Micah 6:11)
The merchants and traders of all these goodly goods will stand afar off in fear of her torment or will be struck with terror by her torment and so that they would not dare to approach her.
The prophet Amos says, "He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loves to oppress. And Ephraim said, Yet I am become rich, I have found me out substance: in all my labors they shall find none iniquity in me that were sin."(Amos 12:7-8)
_3️⃣Revelation 18:20-24:The saints are excited and rejoice over her fate as a millstone is cast into the sea to illustrate her irrecoverable state._
As Babylon which caused the saints to suffer for lack of trade and commerce because they could not buy or sell because they did not have the mark of the beast will rejoice over her ruin.
The Psalmist says, "But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yes, let them exceedingly rejoice." (Psalm 68:3)
For during the time of their persecution and great difficulties, the kings, merchants, and seamen had been countenanced and sustained by her in the indulgence of corrupt and base passions, they had been enriched by traffic with her but not so with the persecuted saints.
The Revelator says, "And he causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." (Revelation 13:16-17)
Another might angel cast a millstone into the sea as an illustration of the end of that wicked city Babylon as musician sing rejoicing over her fate.
Jesus said, "But whoever shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." (Matthew 18:6)
For her sorceries as of political arts, state tricks, counterfeit miracles, and deceptive manoeuvres of every kind will have ended and non flourished.
The prophet Isaiah says, "But these two things shall come to you in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come on you in their perfection for the multitude of your sorceries, and for the great abundance of your enchantments...Stand now with your enchantments, and with the multitude of your sorceries, wherein you have labored from your youth; if so be you shall be able to profit, if so be you may prevail." (Isaiah 49:9, 12)
Appeal
The mourners of Babylon, those who had been bewitched by her fornication, those who had been sharers in her sensual pleasures, and those who had been gainers by her wealth and trade such as the kings and the merchants of the earth, the traders whom she had flattered into idolatry will mourn because of their ill-begotten wealth.
The prophet Jeremiah says, "Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle"(Jeremiah 25:10).
Amen!!!
