Let's Serve Each Other In Love

Showers of blessings

Reverend N Murambadoro

Galatians 5:13-14 "For you, my brothers, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through love serve and seek the best for one another. For the whole Law [concerning human relationships] is fulfilled in one precept, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, you shall have an unselfish concern for others and do things for their benefit]. "But if you bite and devour one another [in bickering and strife], watch out that you [along with your entire fellowship] are not consumed by one another."

Paul warns the Galatians not to abuse their freedom in CHRIST as an opportunity selfishly serve the flesh by only doing what feels good to them. Instead, they should selflessly serve each other in love. Paul wants them to focus more on serving each other. This is the principle taught by JESUS in Matthew 20:26-28 "It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your [willing and humble] slave; just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many [paying the price to set them free from the penalty of sin].”

We are leaving in a world dominated by selfish gains. People are thinking for what benefit themselves. People are a using power, authority, opportunities for selfish gains. Galatians were abusing their opportunity of freedom in CHRIST to serve their selfish desires. If we are not careful we can also do the same but probably the difference is on the setting of self service. As a Body of CHRIST, let us have unselfish concern for others and do things that benefit others more than just focusing on I, me and myself. The selfish gain attitude is the catalyst for biting and devouring one another. The result of that is hatred, divisions, and Paul's warns them to watch out that they may not consume and finish one another. Let's turn to the LORD and ask HIM to enable us to serve each other in love. Amen.

Blessings and Shalom
