MAKING PROMISES

"But when King Herod's birthday came, the daughter of Herodias (Herod's wife) danced before the guests, and she pleased Herod so much that he promised to give her whatever she would ask." ( Matthew 14:1-12

What a foolish man. King Herod never thought the girl would ask for the head of John the Baptist!

And not wanting to be ashamed before his audience, the king ordered and John was beheaded in prison - bringing his head on a plate!

LESSON

Don't make promises.

Its better to make no promise than to make one without thinking. Marriage vows are like that. Baptism vows are like that - if you're not willing to WALK WITH CHRIST, don't make the vow!

Politicians everywhere are also like that.
