"Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things." (Matt.6:34)
Last week is far gone and we are in a new week.
Today's verse tells us not to worry about tomorrow. But it's not an excuse for being lazy or thoughtless.
It is perfectly normal to take responsibility and prepare for what will happen tomorrow. Make sure you have shut the doors and windows of your house for protection against thieves before you go to sleep. And, make sure to do your homework carefully if you want to pass an examination.
It is alright and proper to foresee problems that might arise and to prepare for them
But "worrying" is another matter.
It is to preoccupy yourself with what will be on the next day, instead of today. You start troubling your mind by imagining the worst that might happen tomorrow.
This deprives you of your joy that you would be enjoying today.
When we worry, we focus our attention on what might happen tomorrow, on the "the events", instead of focusing on the One who controls events.
REFLECTION
We have an omnipotent Father who loves us and has all things in His hands!
He says, "Fear not, for I am with you." (Is. 41:10)
