THANKSGIVING

“He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.” (Psalms 107:20-22)

Thanksgiving is the marriage between prayer and appreciation. It is the catalyst that changes expectation to celebration. It is the strength a man has when he believes God can do something that he has not seen God do yet.

Thanksgiving is the only vehicle a man boards when his destination is, ‘God can do it’ – and he will surely arrive.

In Jonah 1:2, the Bible says, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me.”Nineveh means a place of habitation,i.e. where one can dwell, grow and prosper in life.

Verse 3 tells us that instead of going to Nineveh, Jonah bordered a ship going to another town; Tarshish, which when interpreted means ‘a place of being subject to enemies.’ God sent Jonah to a place of habitation but he opted to go to a place of trouble.

GIVING THANKS IN TIMES OF TROUBLE
Trouble is the raw material that prepares a godly person for thanksgiving. However, in every trouble, God gives allowance for thanksgiving.

James 1:2 says, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.”

In other words, diverse troubles give you the materials that prepare you for your next thanks offering. No one likes trouble, but if that is what it entails to take me to my divine destination, so be it.

Prayer/Confession: My father, my father, please, deliver me from every trouble and pain that will deprive me of giving thanks to You in Jesus name. Amen!

Words of Wisdom: Trouble is the raw material that produces thanksgiving.
