“The Lord is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation.” Numbers 14:18 (KJV)
The Most High is the greatest personality in the whole universe. He is good, and His goodness has given us the opportunity to know Him through His Word.
The opening scripture reveals some of the moral attributes of God: longsuffering or slow to anger, great mercy or abundant in loving-kindness, and forgiving wickedness and transgression.
These attributes are enjoyed by His children on a daily basis. There is another aspect of God that is also worth mentioning or knowing, which is that He rewards righteousness and punishes sin.
In the Old Testament, He visited the sins or iniquities of the fathers on the children, but in the New Testament, each person is punished for his or her sins or iniquities; He doesn’t punish people for sins or iniquities others have committed (Romans 6:23).
No wonder He is calling everyone to repent and receive the gift of salvation in the person of His dear Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
Dear beloved, take advantage of God’s moral attributes or character, and live like Him so that you can become a blessing to God and those in your world.
