What is lent?

Nothing on earth is more valuable to God than the UNITY of His church.

Therefore it is your job as a Christian to protect the unity of your church.

Unity of the church is so important that the New Testament gives more attention to it than it gives to either heaven or hell! In his final moments before he was arrested, Jesus prayed passionately for unity. (John 17:20-23). It was our unity as his followers that was uppermost in his mind during those agonizing hours.

Therefore, we must do everything we can to protect the unity of the church we fellowship with, and to love it in spite of its imperfections. Our fellow believers (or even leaders) will disappoint us and let us down. But divorcing your church at the first sign of disappointment is a sign of immaturity. Besides, there is no perfect church to escape to. Every church has its own set of weakness and problems. You'll soon be disappointed again.

"Let there be real harmony so there won't be divisions in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose." (1Cor.1:10)
